The D55 Class 2-8-0 Standard Goods Locomotive, originally introduced as the K Class in 1918, was a key part of New South Wales' rail history. Built by Clyde Engineering, these locomotives were initially designed for express fruit and mail transport. By 1924, they were reclassified as the D55 Class, and in the 1930s, most were upgraded with non-tapered superheated boilers, earning the name 'Standard Goods Engine.'
This HO scale model replicates the locomotive with precision. It features a detailed cabin interior, floating footplate, and separately applied body parts. Realistic mechanical mechanisms, authentic knuckle-style couplers, and a dual-position drawbar ensure a lifelike appearance. The model is DCC-ready, making it suitable for digital control systems.
Ideal for collectors and railway enthusiasts, this model brings a piece of Australian railway history to life with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail.
