The Heljan Rail Trains HO-OO Train Railfreight Red Stripe 17007 is a model based on the Clayton Type 1, a diesel locomotive designed to improve crew visibility with its center cab. Despite 117 units being built, the twin-engine design proved unreliable, leading to a short service life between 1962 and 1971.
This model includes features such as an 8-pin DCC interface, working lights, NEM couplings, and sprung buffers. These elements enhance the realism and functionality, making it an excellent addition for model train enthusiasts.
Built by Clayton/Beyer Peacock, the Clayton Type 1 had a mixed career, serving both British Rail and industrial applications. Its purpose was primarily for light goods and passenger transport, and the model measures 203mm in length.
