The Hornby S&DJR Class 3F Jinty 0-6-0 is a 1:76 scale 00 gauge model of a versatile LMS tank engine based on the Midland Railway 2441 Class. Originally designed for shunting, the Jinty exceeded expectations, reaching speeds of up to 96 km/h and handling short passenger trains with steam heating.
In 1928, the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway (S&DJR) received seven Jintys in Prussian Blue livery before they were absorbed into LMS stock in 1930. One example, No. 20, was renumbered multiple times, served through war and peacetime, and was eventually withdrawn in 1960 before being scrapped.
Hornby's detailed model captures the character of this hardworking locomotive, featuring a 3-pole motor and simple gearing for smooth operation. Perfect for collectors and railway enthusiasts, this Jinty is a must-have addition to any historical layout.
