The Hornby S&DJR Class 2P 4-4-0 is a 1:76 scale, 00 gauge model of the LMS 2P locomotive, designed by Sir Henry Fowler for light passenger services. Based on the Midland Railway's 4-4-0 483 Class, this locomotive was introduced in 1928 and served until 1962, with none preserved.
Locomotive number 46 was one of three assigned to the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway, painted in Prussian Blue before being absorbed into the LMS fleet. Later, it was renumbered 635 and eventually 40635 under British Rail, but it was withdrawn in 1961 and scrapped in 1963.
This highly detailed Hornby model features a three-pole motor, precision gearing, and traction tyres for improved grip and slow-speed performance. Perfect for 00 gauge layouts, the 2P is an excellent choice for enthusiasts transitioning from tank engines to tenders while capturing the legacy of British steam railways.
