Recent scientific estimates tell us that there are over 6000 documented species of mammals alone on planet earth! The average individual is acquainted with just about one/tenth of these animals-such is the natural biodiversity of the world. To familiarize small children with the animal kingdom, educational toy figures prove immensely useful. The Schleich Oryx toy figure is a good example. The Oryx belongs to the antelope family and inhabit very dry, arid deserts. They are characterized by very long, sleek, sharp black horns which can reach lengths of up to 150 centimetres-practically half the length of a fully grown Oryx's entire body! These horns are an excellent defence against predators. Their black and white faces are somewhat distinct in appearance. The toy figure, crafted as a great educational aid, is very realistic and imbibes all these physical characteristics with excellent attention to detail. The toy is well-suited for children above the age of 3.
