The Trumpeter 1:350 DKM O-Class Battlecruiser Barbarossa model kit brings to life a warship that was planned but never completed. Designed as part of Germany's Z Plan in World War II, the O-Class was meant to replace the Deutschland-class cruisers and featured 380mm twin turrets, the same primary armament as the Bismarck.
This battlecruiser had a unique three-shaft propulsion system, with steam turbines driving the outer shafts and a MAN diesel engine powering the central shaft. Capable of reaching 62 km/h (33.5 knots), it was designed for high-speed Atlantic operations, but the project was cancelled by the end of 1939 before construction was completed.
The model kit has more than 920 pieces, including a metal anchor chain and 4 photo-etched parts that add more texture. This kit, which is 73.13 cm long and 8.6 cm wide, is perfect for model ship makers and history buffs who want to bring a forgotten part of naval engineering back to life.
